Before you turn the Key

As you approach the vehicle do a visual check for low tire pressure, leaks under the vehicle and any body damage.

On your own vehicle, you will get to know its usage pattern of oil or fluids.

A vehicle driven around on short stop and go trips will likely lose/use more oil after an extended highway drive.

As temperatures drop in the fall and winter, you will have to increase the tire pressure to maintain the correct pressure. Summer 35 PSI will not maintain that pressure when the temperature falls. You lose one PSI for every 5°. Proper pressure helps you maintain better control of your vehicle and improves mileage.

Clear all windows and mirrors of frost, dew, ice or snow.

Clear all lights as well.

The hood, roof and trunk must also be cleared of snow to avoid obscuring the rear window as the snow drifts off once you begin driving.

NEVER leave anything on the rear window ledge of a car. A Kleenex box left sitting on the back shelf killed a person in the U.S.

Secure all larger, bulky objects inside for the same reason.
